Some comments about the meanning of a Thesis.

Scientific method refers to a body of techniques (the techniques used for construction or building in such a way three-dimensional structures do not fall apart, it is at the end, the technique to defy gravity) for investigating phenomena, (the phenomena of “space” in the context of social needs of all kinds, it is the investigation of possible spatial solutions to different problems of “space” acquiring new knowledge, or correcting and integrating previous knowledge. (Acquiring new knowledge in the realm of new materials, building processes, new ways to structurally design a building, new ways to organize space, new green techniques to obtain more sustainable buildings)
To be termed scientific, a method of inquiry must be based on gathering observable, empirical and measurable evidence subject to specific principles of reasoning.[1] (“Case studies”; which requires gathering information in regards how other architects have solved same or similar space problems. It might be by observing buildings or projects in the specific/different context, it might be by empirically approach by supposing / imagineering a way to solve the space problem in a different way, or it might be by repeating measurable evidence of a space solution –prototypes-) A scientific method consists of the collection of data (all the information pertaining the site, the topographic data, the geographical data, the financial resources to build the project, the number of users of that space, the code requirements) through observation (in music and architecture observation should be substituted by imagination) and experimentation, (experimentation in architecture implies the fact of experimenting with different arrays of space considering the architectural program, it is the conversion of spatial ideas into patterns or schemes) of and the formulation and testing of hypotheses.[2] (Every time an “space scheme” is three-dimensionally drawn or modeled is like the formulation of an Architectural Hypothesis)
A hypothesis is a proposed explanation for an observable phenomenon.
Architectural hypothesis as presented in a “Thesis” suppose a particular way to solve the presented space problem, since there are many ways to organize the space, the particular architectural hypothesis will depict three- dimensionally, the way the spaces are organized and related to the variables of topography, geography, urban context and other variables.
Inquiry is any process that has the aim of augmenting knowledge, resolving doubt, or solving a problem. (Architectural Thesis fall into this category, a “project” represents a way to solve an “space problem”) A theory of inquiry is an account of the various types of inquiry and a treatment of the ways that each type of inquiry achieves its aim.
Although procedures vary from one field of inquiry (Architecture is an applied science) to another, identifiable features distinguish scientific inquiry from other methodologies of knowledge. Scientific researchers (Thesis Students) propose hypotheses as explanations of phenomena.
In scientific research, an experiment (The Architectural Thesis, that contains the “Architectural Project” represents an experiment with “space”, ”Form” and “structure” among other variables) is a method of investigating causal relationships among variables, (among those variables are: site, context, program, demographics, users data, financial resources, technical resources; etc.) or to test a hypothesis.
